God’s
hands are all over the earth.
He is the best gardener there is. Gardening makes Him feel
good. It reminds Him of Eden when He made Adam. Boy,
did He get dirty! First, He made the dirt into a big,
round ball and then He worked it into an oval. After
that, He did the real design work. Squish! Pat. Floop!
God loved to squash the mud through His fingers. He liked
touching it because He knew what it was going to be.

God was making a friend.
When God was done, He breathed Himself into Adam and Adam
came to life!
There’s
something about dirt that God likes.
Plants come out of the dirt; it feeds them. Water moves
dirt around. God even made bugs and worms to live in the
dirt. If He didn’t like dirt, He wouldn’t have
made it.
Jesus likes dirt, too. He used mud to make blind people
see. He drew in the dirt with sticks.
When
Jesus put mud on the man’s eyes so he could
see, I think He used dirt because that’s how God
showed Him to do it when they were working on Adam.
What’s the big deal about dirt anyway?
I think I know. I think God likes dirt because it is
the stuff we
are made of.
He loves dirt because He loves us.
When the snake got in trouble for lying and tricking Eve,
God made him have to crawl on the dirt for the rest of
his life so he would have to touch the dirt God loved.
The snake hated it. He had to look at the dirt up close
and it made him think of Adam. He kept thinking about how
God made Adam the boss and not him. That made him MAD because
he wanted to be boss, not Adam.
Not only that, but the dirt tasted bad and when his tongue
went in and out he would get it in his mouth. Since the
snake made Eve eat something bad, God made the snake eat
something bad. It was a good idea. I would’ve stepped
on his tail.
Adam got in trouble too. He had to work in the dirt to
make food grow. Since plants already came out of the dirt,
it wasn’t such a big deal except that now weeds and
thorns started to grow. God wanted Adam to see that what
he did was bad. I’m sure he figured it out pretty
quick after a few good pokes.
Weeds are not good to have in your heart or in your garden.
Dirt
belongs on the outside; God’s Breath belongs
on the inside.
